The pandemic has abruptly changed everyday working life. An exceptional situation has become the new normality within a year. Mobile working is now part of everyday life for many at Kulzer and additional safety precautions have top priority to protect employees in production. Here, employees provide insights into how their everyday (working) lives have changed.

In the new situation, I first had to get used to the fact that...
my wife and I live together. We went from a long-distance relationship of 3 years straight into full-contact lockdown. That was surprisingly difficult at times. Since we are still together, we now just see it as a successful fire drill. In terms of work, the biggest challenge was to settle into a new team and get used to only having virtual exchanges. That was much harder for me than simply going to the other office in person and knocking on the door. Fortunately, my team has always encouraged me and reflected to me that I don't have to worry about this.
I keep myself fit by...
always doing something different. I have discovered good running routes and cycling along the Main is also great, especially when the weather is nice. In the meantime, I've also developed a passion for yoga and I'm very happy about the sports programme at Kulzer called "Fit Together", a virtual sports programme offered by colleagues for employees.
A look under the desk: socks, slippers or trainers?
Barefoot shoes and (almost) always proper trousers. At the very beginning, it was tempting to sit at the desk in joggers. Personally, however, the right clothes help me a lot to get into "work mode" and to switch to leisure time after work.

That has suddenly changed in my everyday working life:
For those like me who have to be on site for their work, mouth-nose protection has become a constant companion and strict hygiene measures and distance regulations were established right at the beginning of the pandemic. This way we feel safe and so far, there have been no chains of infection within the site. We have more coordination by phone or Microsoft Teams. As a result, I now also miss the personal contacts.
Thanks to homeschooling I know again...
how many bones and joints the human body has. I also have a good overview of lakes, rivers and mountains in Germany again. The balancing act between work and organising childcare is sometimes quite exhausting and difficult to manage. Nevertheless, I enjoy the time with my daughter very much and have gained a much better insight into her learning behaviour. Moreover, I now know for sure that I was right not to become a teacher....
