International Women's Day has been celebrated on 8 March for 110 years. Reason enough to introduce four strong women from Kulzer here – for an entire month. In a short series, they tell us what makes their job special, what has shaped them on their career path and what or who inspires them.
Katja Boettcher, who has been working for Kulzer Germany as a technical advisor for intraoral scanners since 2011, tells us what distinguishes her job and good teamwork and why fun and passion are important in her job.
What is special about your job at Kulzer?
Special for me is how appreciative my direct supervisor is in treating me and the other team members. We all meet at eye level as colleagues and not hierarchically as "employee" and "supervisor". In the team we pull together, support each other, work transparently, talk about and forgive mistakes and at the same time know that we can rely on each other. We trust each other. That makes it special for me on a human level.
From a thematic point of view, I think it's great to work for a company that has been in the market for so long and is well-established. I get to work independently and accompany the digital progress in our industry. I can be an "ambassador" for new technologies - that's challenging, exciting and a lot of fun.
How has Kulzer supported you on your way?
Kulzer gives me the opportunity and also expects me as an employee to actively contribute to the further development of the company and our products. Ideas and feedback are accepted and implemented - I have the freedom to develop new ideas, whether or not they are within my direct area of responsibility. And I get the opportunity to develop personally: Today I am a product and training specialist with a focus on intraoral scanners for the German market.
What motivates you?
On the one hand, that I can work so independently and that my work is appreciated. On the other hand, my team. Our cohesion gives everyone the backing that makes us strong and at the same time we spur each other on because we want to do a good job as a team. We stand up for each other and rely on each other - but that also means that each team member gives his/her best.
How would you motivate other women to go their own way?
For me, one of the most important insights was that it is elementary to believe in oneself and to trust one's own abilities. To be persistent and at the same time to keep developing. Having fun and passion for the job is important to convince others - and both are important to persevere even in bad times.
