Interview with Dr. Fumiaki Yamazaki on his experience with dima Print Digital Denture
Dr. Fumiaki Yamazaki established the Yamazaki Dental Clinic in 2002 in Imizu City, Toyama Prefecture, Japan. He travels extensively as a trainer and lecturer and is a member of the Japan Plate Denture Association. In 2013, his PhD dissertation was awarded as the best dissertation by the Academy of Clinical Dentistry.
How many dental applications have you created with the newmaterial?
I’ve made 40 upper jaw dentures, 10 lower jaw dentures and 20 complete dentures.
What did you like most about the materials and workflow?
The workflow with dima Print Digital Denture and cara is rational. First of all, I appreciated that it is easy to use. Users can easily design and print dentures with the system. Impressions are digitally integrated, so there’s no need to make a plaster model. Also, the design requires less correction with regard to tooth arrangements and festooning, because it is possible to make immediate revisions during the denture design process. The costs of a 3D printed denture are lower when compared to traditional methods, and dentists can ensure more satisfied patients, because the final denture is made after the use of a Try-In.
What hurdles do you see when implementing printed digital dentures in your dental office?
I need to be careful with the material. The supports were sometimes released when the temperature of the material was too low during denture printing. I need to follow the design guidelines exactly, because when I did not do this, I experienced a deformation.
How could digital denture printing support you in your daily business?
The printed denture is very helpful for me in daily practice. I provided printed dentures to patients with a shorter turnaround time.
Would you recommend the materials to colleagues?
Of course, I would. I’d say that the materials and system improve both the workflow and the treatment process for patients. Users can make the design and printed denture by themselves and everyone can use the system thanks to its easy operation.
